The SharePoint Books in my Bag

These are the books I keep with me in my bag – my portable office – when I’m on the road and/or at client sites.  I keep them with me for reference when I don’t have immediate access to Google, etc. but end up bringing them out more to show clients the ‘good ones’ than I do to actually use them myself.

Real World SharePoint 2007: Indispensable Experiences from 16 MOSS and WSS MVPs – Special thanks to Todd Klindt and Wrox for sending us copies of this book to review and give away at our MNSPUG meetings.  Our members have been very appreciative.  I’ve had a lot of people check out this book during meetings (and drool over it) and send me e-mail after the meeting to get the book details so they could pick one up themselves.

Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies Administrator’s Pocket Consultant by Ben Curry – Nice and compact and full of the goods you need for configuring and managing SharePoint environments.  I didn’t have a chance to meet Ben until SPC 2008 and he’s definitely the real thing.  He had some of the best presentations of the conference.  If you are a SharePoint administrator and can catch any of Ben’s presentations, I highly recommend them.

The good news is: this time around with SharePoint, there are more resources available than ever before.  Start with these two and keep an eye out for more…
