{"id":790,"date":"2016-10-25T16:49:11","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T22:49:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.idubbs.com\/blog\/?p=790"},"modified":"2016-10-25T16:49:11","modified_gmt":"2016-10-25T22:49:11","slug":"powerapps-environments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.idubbs.com\/blog\/2016\/powerapps-environments\/","title":{"rendered":"PowerApps: Environments"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Overview<\/h2>\n<p>New from Microsoft this week: PowerApps Environments. <\/p>\n<p>The quick and short story is that environments will be another taxonomy-element-like container. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In SharePoint we have:&nbsp; Site Collections \u2013&gt; Webs \u2013&gt; List and Libraries. <\/li>\n<li>In PowerApps we\u2019ll have:&nbsp; Environments \u2013&gt; Apps, Flows, and Common Data Service databases. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As with site collections in SharePoint, Environments will be the containers with \u2018high fences\u2019 between them. All part of the same tenant (or \u2018server farm\u2019 in legacy SharePoint-speak). Environments will give us a convenient way to group and isolate objects \u2013 for management, permissions, and Dev\/Test\/Prod scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>Also in the blog post comments: There is an announcement coming soon regarding GA (General availability) timeline \u2013 getting past \u2018preview\u2019 stage). <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile\" style=\"border-top-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none\" alt=\"Smile\" src=\"http:\/\/www.idubbs.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/wlEmoticon-smile.png\"> Woo hoo! <\/p>\n<h2>Roles<\/h2>\n<p>Environments have a few roles defined. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Environment Admins<\/strong> will operate much like tenant or server admins in that they can create environments and manage the settings and policies for them. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Environment Makers<\/strong> are somewhat analogous to Site Collection Administrators or Site Designers. They\u2019ll be able to create new apps, connections, etc. and assign permissions to users of those apps. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>PowerApps Admin Center<\/h2>\n<p>A new feature to PowerApps for managing environments and more.
